Ground Truth Colombia Book a call

On-site verification · Medellín

You can’t be there. I can.

I visit farms, plants, warehouses and properties for buyers and investors abroad. I write down what I see, in English, with photos and the records I was shown. I also write down what I could not check.

Book a 20-minute call On demand. $400 per field day, paid before I schedule.

What I do

Everything is on demand and priced per job. You ask, we agree the scope in writing, I go. If you need ongoing visits, we can agree a standing arrangement case by case.

Site visits and due diligence

For buyers and investors who need to know what is really there before they commit. Send me what you were told and what you are trying to confirm. If it can be answered by walking the place, photographing it, asking questions and reading the records on site, I can do it.

I fill the gap between what you can find online and what is actually there. I do the groundwork before you arrive, so if you still travel, the trip is shorter and aimed at the right places. Sometimes you will find you do not need to travel at all.

If a question needs a specialist, such as an appraiser, surveyor or engineer, I say so on the call. I do not guess.

Property visit before you make an offer

You are weighing a rural or agricultural property from abroad. I walk it. Access road, visible boundary markers, water, buildings, how the neighbors use the land, and whether the place matches the listing.

After you buy, I can go back whenever you ask. Each return visit is its own short job with its own short report.

I am not a surveyor. I record what is visible and say so when something needs one.

Pre-shipment and loading witness

I attend a loading and record it against the documents you give me. Container and seal numbers, pallet and carton counts, condition, and photos of each stage.

This is a witness record. It does not replace a licensed inspection company where one is required.

What you get back

Every report is written the same way: what you were told, next to what is there. Anything I could not check says so.

Photos and copies of the records I was shown come with it.

What is thereGate to lot edge is 2.1 km of unpaved road. Washed-out section at km 1.4, photographed. Dry day, passable.

  2. You were toldThe packing house is operating.

What is thereLine idle at 10:40. Two workers on site. Cold room display read 9 °C.

  3. You were toldThere is water on site.

How it works

Each job starts with a short call and a written Work Authorization. Nothing is scheduled until it is signed and paid.

  1. Book a 20-minute call

Tell me what you need to know and where, then pick a time. Takes two minutes.

  2. We talk, and I decide

I ask what decision this feeds and tell you straight whether it is a fit. I decide whether to take each job.

  3. Work Authorization

A written scope, price, travel costs and checklist. You sign it and pay up front.

  4. I go

I schedule the visit once the authorization is signed and paid. Timestamped, geotagged photos. Notes on site. Copies of any records I am shown.

  5. You get the report

In English. What I observed is kept apart from what I could not verify. A walk-through call if you want one.

What I do not do

  • Valuations or appraisals. In Colombia those belong to registered appraisers.
  • Legal or title opinions. Your lawyer reads the title records.
  • Surveys or engineering opinions. If a question needs a specialist, I say so on the call.
  • Brokerage. I take no commission on any deal.
  • Handle the money for your purchase or deal. You pay me for my work, and only that.
  • Certify food safety or issue audit certificates.

Who pays me

You do. Nobody else. I take nothing from sellers, agents or suppliers, and no work from the operation I am visiting.

Full disclosure: I also run Paradise Food Imports, a separate supplier-verification practice for U.S. food importers. The same rule applies there. I never take supplier-paid work from a plant I verify.

Who you are hiring

Lee

I’m Lee. I’m American and have lived in Medellín for more than six years. I work in Spanish and write in English.

My main work is food-safety compliance for Colombian agricultural exports, through Paradise Food Imports, so I know what a working packing house looks like and what one tidied up for visitors looks like. Ground Truth is on demand, alongside that. The habit is the same in both: what I observed is written down apart from what I was told.

My LinkedIn profile, if you want to look me up first.

I am a resident with permission to work here.
